About Horton Plains National Park

A misty plateau
at the end of the world

Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka, is a plateau more than 2,100 metres above sea level in the central highlands, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is best known for World’s End, where the land drops away in a sheer cliff of about 870 metres.

Most visitors walk the World’s End hike, a loop of about 9.5 km past the cliff edge and Baker’s Falls. Along the way you may see sambar deer, purple-faced langurs and many of Sri Lanka’s endemic hill birds.
