Questions

Day Tours from Dambulla & Sigiriya – FAQs

Where do your day tours from Dambulla and Sigiriya start?

Every trip starts and ends at your hotel. Your chauffeur guide picks you up from your hotel, villa or guesthouse in Sigiriya, Dambulla, Habarana or Kandalama and drops you back there at the end of the day — no meeting points, no shared buses.

What are the best day trips from Sigiriya?

The most popular day trips from Sigiriya are Polonnaruwa by bicycle, an elephant safari at Minneriya or Kaudulla, Anuradhapura and Mihintale, and Dambulla Cave Temple. For something different, try the village tour and cooking class or a beach day in Trincomalee.

Can I do a day trip from Sigiriya to Polonnaruwa?

Yes, easily. Polonnaruwa is about an hour from Sigiriya. You can explore the ancient city in the morning by bicycle and, if you like, add an afternoon elephant safari at Minneriya on the way back.

Can I visit Anuradhapura from Dambulla in one day?

Yes. Anuradhapura is around 1.5 to 2 hours from Dambulla, so a full day lets you see the sacred Bodhi tree, the great stupas and Mihintale before returning to your hotel.

Which elephant safari is best: Minneriya, Kaudulla or Eco Park?

It depends on the season. The elephants move between the parks as water levels change, so our guides check where the herds are and choose the best park on the day. From July to October, Minneriya hosts “The Gathering”.

What time should I climb Sigiriya Rock?

As early as possible. Sigiriya opens in the early morning, and starting then means cooler temperatures, softer light and fewer crowds. For sunrise, climb neighbouring Pidurangala instead.

Can I do a beach day from Sigiriya?

Yes. Trincomalee on the east coast is about 2 to 2.5 hours away, with snorkelling at Pigeon Island and the beaches of Nilaveli. The east coast is at its best from May to September.

How much does a day tour from Sigiriya cost?

The price depends on the route, the vehicle and the number of travellers. Send us your dates and the trip you like, and we will reply with a free, no-obligation quote within 24 hours.
